What to Expect After Botox® Injections?
While it may feel like lines and wrinkles are inevitable, you can smooth them away and prevent them from progressing with a simple injectable treatment. Botox® injections are used to address wrinkles that form as the result of your facial expressions. As one of the most popular aesthetic treatments worldwide, Botox® helps you look naturally refreshed and youthful.
What is Botox®?
While you may have heard of Botox®, you may not be familiar with botulinum toxin, the compound these injections are made from. Botox® uses botulinum toxin to relax the facial muscles that cause your skin to crease and wrinkle. When injected into targeted areas such as the forehead, between the brows, or around the eyes, Botox® stops these expression lines from forming and lets them become smooth.
How Does Botox® Work?
When injected in tiny amounts, botulinum toxin reaches the targeted nerve and tells it to stop sending signals to the facial muscles that are causing your wrinkles. Without signals, the muscles stop pulling on your skin. Since Botox® only acts on the targeted area, the rest of your facial muscles continue to move normally, letting you look like yourself but with fewer wrinkles and a more refreshed appearance.

What to Expect After Botox® Injections
Your Botox® injections can take as little as 15 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. One factor in the popularity of this treatment is how quickly you can return to work and other activities, but you should know what to expect after your injections.
Is There Any Downtime?
When you leave your appointment, you may have some minor redness, swelling, or bruising in the injection area. These effects fade within a day or two. No downtime is required, but we will provide you with post-treatment instructions. You should not rub your face for several hours after treatment and wait till the following day to resume your exercise routine.
How Fast Does it Work?
You may start to notice your results within a few days, but full results can take up to 30 days to evolve. This timeline is how long it takes for Botox® to reach its destination and start working.
How Long Does it Last?
How long your Botox® treatments last will vary, but most people can expect three to four months. People who have been receiving Botox® for a while may see their results last longer as their muscles are “trained” to relax. Each person’s body will process and remove the botulinum toxin at a different rate.
Am I a Good Candidate for Botox®?
Botox® is widely used for medical and aesthetic purposes, and its safety has been established through decades of testing and multiple uses. Good candidates for Botox® are healthy adults who want to address expression lines and wrinkles. There is no ideal age to start getting Botox®, and only a consultation can determine whether this treatment will help you achieve your goals.
You may not be a good candidate if you have certain neuromuscular conditions or other medical conditions. You should not have Botox® injections if you have an infection or active skin condition in the treatment area.
