Microneedling San Antonio

What to Put on Your Skin After Microneedling

If you are tired of uneven skin tone, texture, and a dull complexion. Microneedling at Alamo Ranch Laser Aesthetics can boost your skincare routine and help you reclaim your skin.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling micro-damages the skin to boost healing factors, collagen production, and cellular turnover. The micro-channels created during your microneedling procedure allow optimal access to skincare products to improve your complexion to the best possible results.

As a result, microneedling may cost $650 and $1,800, depending on the experience of your provider, the type of microneedling, the size of the treatment area, and the skincare products you may use to aid in your treatment.

At Alamo Ranch Laser Aesthetics, we use Secret RF™ microneedling–well-known for improving skin tone and texture. The specialized technology uses fractional radiofrequency energy to trigger collagen production deeper in the skin for optimal results.

What Does Recovery After Microneedling Look Like?

In the first couple of days, you may experience mild redness and swelling as your skin begins healing. We recommend using gentle, fragrance-free cleansers, moisturizers, and sunscreen during this time.

At Alamo Ranch Laser Aesthetics, we recommend staying out of the sun and avoiding wearing makeup. Due to the microchannels created by your microneedling treatment, makeup can clog your pores and cause infections.

Most of the after-effects should subside on the third day with some sensitivity. You may gradually return to your usual skincare routine without active ingredients such as retinol and vitamin C. Your skin may begin to peel, but please do not pick at it. We also recommend avoiding skin-stressing treatments such as chemical peels, lasers, and tanning. These can irritate your skin and prolong the healing period.

By day 7, your skin should be completely healed. You may return to your regular skincare routine, but please avoid invasive procedures, such as microneedling, waxing, chemical peels, or laser treatments, until your provider approves.

What Products are Good to Apply After Microneedling?

We do not recommend retinoid, vitamin C, or any scrubbing or exfoliating products. Jade rollers, gua sha, circulation-boosting tools, and various skincare products could irritate your skin and lead to an infection. We also do not recommend taking ibuprofen as the swelling is part of the healing process to encourage skin turnover.

Hyaluronic acid or other skin-hydrating products are highly recommended. Your skin may become drier during this period. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, Aquaphor Healing Ointments, and ZO Skin Health Hydrating Cream are some recommended products for healing skin.

To know which products work best for your skin type, please discuss your recovery period with your provider. For overall care, the best thing you can do for your skin stays hydrated and stay out of the sun.
