What is VelaShape®?

What is VelaShape®?

VelaShape® is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive body contouring treatment to reduce areas of difficult fat and the appearance of cellulite. Using three different types of energy, VelaShape® shrinks fat cells and smooths out cellulite for tighter skin. VelaShape® also stimulates collagen production to improve the quality of your skin.

What to Expect with VelaShape®

Using infrared light and RF energy, the heat signals to the skin to produce collagen and elastin–essential proteins supporting the skin’s appearance and structure. The heat also targets the fat cells, causing them to break. 

Simultaneously, VelaShape® uses suction and messaging technology to stimulate the skin and connective tissue, reducing cellulite. The suction also breaks down fibrous bands responsible for pushing the fat cells to the skin’s surface. The result is smoother, firmer skin.

You should feel no pain during your VelaShape® treatment. This non-invasive treatment moves and heats the skin, but not enough to cause damage. 

What Results Will I See with VelaShape®?

Most people need three sessions to see optimal results. After the final treatment, you’ll see a reduction in cellulite and circumference, with collagen production continuing to improve over the course of several more weeks—the decrease in circumference results in a more toned and contoured appearance. 

Results with VelaShape® are not permanent. VelaShape® is meant to improve the appearance of cellulite but does not cure it. To maintain your results, you may need follow-up sessions. 

How Long is Recovery with VelaShape®?

There is no downtime required with VelaShape®. Your treatment session should take between 20 and 30 minutes. It is typical for your skin to appear slightly red for a couple of hours after your treatment, but it should fade on its own. 

It is best to avoid direct sun exposure and use sunscreen during the collagen remodeling process for optimal results. 

Am I a Good Candidate for VelaShape®?

Anyone wanting to reduce the appearance of cellulite and decrease their circumference is a good candidate for VelaShape®. Ideal candidates have a BMI less than 30, mild to moderate cellulite, and realistic expectations. VelaShape® works on all skin types and tones and can be combined with a number of other procedures. 

VelaShape® is not a weight-loss solution. For best results, diet and exercise are recommended. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical implant or taking a blood thinner, you might not be a good candidate for VelaShape®.
