BOTOX®
Frown lines and crow’s feet making you look older?
Botox® Cosmetic (botulinum toxin) is FDA-approved to treat lines and wrinkles around the eyes and forehead, including frown lines between the eyes. While the word “toxin” sounds dangerous, Botox® has been used safely as a cosmetic treatment for over 30 years and won over many people who love the results.

About Botox®
Many of the lines around the forehead and eyes come from muscle contractions that form our facial expressions. Botox® temporarily blocks signals to the muscle, preventing it from contracting.
Without the muscles pulling and tugging on it, the skin in the treatment area can relax and soften. Botox® Cosmetic keeps the muscle from contracting for about three to six months. Many people choose to have ongoing treatments to keep these lines and wrinkles under control.
Your treatment provider injects botulinum toxin with a small needle directly into the areas needing treatment. This stops the muscles from getting signals telling them to contract. With no muscles pulling the skin from underneath, the skin is not pulled into deep wrinkles.
Botox® Cosmetic treats line lines and wrinkles caused by muscle contractions like smiling and frowning. If you have (or want to prevent) these lines, you may be a good candidate for treatment with botulinum toxin. The treatment only lasts three to six months, so if you want to avoid the lines coming back, you should plan on undergoing maintenance treatments.
Botox® and other forms of botulinum toxin cannot treat wrinkles caused by sun exposure or environmental damage. If you have a lot of this kind of damage, your doctor may recommend a different treatment. Fortunately, we have many treatments to take care of these kinds of wrinkles.
Treatment providers use a very small needle to inject Botox® Cosmetic into the areas on your forehead and around your eyes where muscles are causing your skin to wrinkle. You may feel a small pinch.
The length of the procedure depends on how many areas you have treated. Some people choose to target just one area that bothers them while others treat several areas in one visit.
Botulinum toxin is very safe and the risk of side effects is very low. You can resume your normal activities as soon as your session is over. You may feel a little tingling or soreness in the area of the injections.
Results start to appear in 24 to 48 hours. Most people see full results within 30 days. With maintenance treatments, the treated areas of the face may become more relaxed and treatments may last longer.
You can expect to see smoother skin in the treated areas with a reduction in wrinkles that form when you smile or frown. The rest of your face should continue to look completely normal and no one will know you’ve had Botox®. The days of the overdone, permanently surprised face are long gone. Today, treatment lets you look naturally younger.
