About LimeLight Facial

A LimeLight facial can address areas of sun damage, telangiectasia (broken blood vessels), brown or red spots, redness from rosacea, and other pigmentation concerns. You can see brighter, more even skin with this non-invasive treatment.

The Cutera Xeo® system delivers a LimeLight facial using a form of intense pulsed light (IPL). These pulses of light do not affect normal skin, but they target areas of pigment like age spots and broken capillaries. On contact, the IPL causes the pigment molecules to heat up. This damages the cells containing the pigments.

Over a few weeks, your body will move these cells to the surface of the skin. Your skin will shed these spots, leaving you with a clear, even complexion. The LimeLight IPL does not harm normal skin cells.

Treatment takes less than an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. Your provider may apply a cooling gel to your face, but most people do not need any numbing. You may feel a sting or pinch when the light pulses.

Since the LimeLight facial targets pigmented areas of skin, you can see improvements in most types of skin tone issues. It can also improve skin texture for a smoother surface. Results from a LimeLight facial include:

  • Improved appearance of rosacea
  • Diminished signs of sun damage
  • Vanished age spots
  • Fading of broken blood vessels
  • Reduced hyperpigmentation

Most people need one to three treatments for optimal results, although people with more significant skin concerns may need more.

You may notice some redness after treatment, and the pigmented areas may feel sore. This lasts a day or two, and you can apply makeup to cover any redness. You can resume normal activities immediately.

Over the next few weeks, the body will push the treated cells to the surface of the skin. They will flake off and disappear, leaving that area even-toned and more youthful. During those few weeks, you may see some scabbing or dark spots on the skin as these areas shed.

Since this treatment is non-invasive and uses only wavelengths of light, it works for almost anyone. If you have hyperpigmentation, rosacea, sun damage, or other pigmentation issues, you may be a good candidate.
