How Much is a Chemical Peel?
If you struggle with uneven skin tone, age spots, sun damage, or acne scars, chemical peels may be the treatment for you. An affordable deep skin treatment, chemical peels remove damaged layers of skin to rejuvenate and reveal healthier, younger-looking skin underneath.
What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels are a type of facial rejuvenation treatment to improve the skin’s appearance by peeling the damaged, superficial layers. Patients typically receive chemical peels to minimize the appearance of scars, melasma, sun damage, wrinkles, or uneven skin tone.
The process of a chemical peel is simple. A chemical solution is applied to your skin to exfoliate and peel off gradually. Depending on the type, the peel may be removed the same day or slowly peel over a few days. The new skin underneath will be smoother, less wrinkled, and more even-toned.
How Much is a Chemical Peel?
The cost of a chemical peel depends on the type of peel, provider, practice location, and any prescriptions or creams bought to aid recovery. The average cost ranges between $500 and $650. While some places may cost up to $6,000 for a deep chemical peel, lighter peels may cost less.
Results of a Chemical Peel
Results may take a few days to surface as the skin and chemicals gradually peel. After the treatment, you should notice smoother, more even-toned skin. There should be a lessened appearance of fine wrinkles.
A lighter peel may take several treatments before achieving your ideal results. Medium peels may also take a couple of appointments but tend to have more dramatic results. Deep chemical peels only require one time for the most dramatic results.

How Long is Recovery From a Chemical Peel?
Recovery time varies depending on the depth of the chemical peel. Lighter chemical peels require no downtime, while stronger peels may take up to a week to fully recover. You may be given pain medication to ease discomfort for stronger peels, but lighter peels may only need protective ointments to maintain results.
While your skin heals, it is best to avoid direct sunlight and apply at least SPF 30. Makeup can cover any redness you experience during the recovery period.
Am I an Ideal Candidate for a Chemical Peel?
Ideal candidates for chemical peels are unhappy with their skin’s current appearance and have realistic expectations. If you currently smoke, you may need to quit up to two weeks before your appointment and two weeks after to aid the healing process.
Chemical peels can work on all skin types and tones. If you have open sores, broken skin, or an active acne breakout, you may need to wait for these to heal before receiving chemical peels.
Other facial treatments are available if chemical peels do not work for you. An in-person consultation can help determine treatments to achieve your skin health goals.
