What is Botox® Made Of?

Fine lines and wrinkles can result in a tired or angry-looking appearance and even make you look older than you are. If you find that fine lines and wrinkles have impacted your confidence and topical creams and skin care have not provided the remedy you have been looking for, Botox® may be right for you.

How Does Botox® Work?

Botox® is an FDA-approved injectable that has several uses, including for the treatment of facial wrinkles such as around the eyes and forehead. Botox® works by temporarily blocking the nerves from sending signals to the muscles in the treatment site, allowing them to relax. This process reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and even helps prevent them.

What is Botox® Made Of?

Botox® is made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botox® uses a small dose of this bacterium, and it is safe to use for the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, and more. If you have questions or concerns about Botox®, our team at Alamo Ranch Laser Aesthetics is happy to help answer them for you.

What Results Can I See With Botox®?

You may start to notice the results of your Botox® treatment in as little as 24 to 48 hours, but your final results may require up to 30 days to appear. After Botox®, you should see a reduction in wrinkles and fine lines in the treatment area, as well as a smoother and rejuvenated appearance. Botox® is also beneficial as a preventive measure for fine lines and wrinkles.

Botox® cannot improve the appearance of wrinkles caused by sun exposure or environmental factors, but Alamo Ranch Laser Aesthetics offers an array of treatments that can treat these types of wrinkles. Dr. Sanchez can discuss which treatment may be right for you during an in-person consultation at our office in San Antonio, TX.

How Long Do the Results of Botox® Last?

The results from your first treatment with Botox® can last three to four months but ultimately vary for each individual. Factors that can determine how long you can enjoy the benefits of Botox® include your age, skin elasticity, and how deep your wrinkles are. Repeat treatments may help results last longer in between appointments.

To help maintain and ensure optimal treatment results, you should avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen diligently. Moisturizing and cleansing the skin can also be beneficial in preventing new wrinkles. Avoid bending over or lying down for at least four hours after treatment.

Am I a Candidate for Botox®?

Most individuals seeking to diminish or prevent signs of aging and rejuvenate their appearance make good candidates for Botox®. Candidates should be in good health and have realistic expectations of what treatment can do for them. You may not be a good candidate for Botox® if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a milk allergy. During your consultation, Dr. Sanchez will assess if you are a candidate for Botox® and discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding treatment.

“I go there regularly for botox and filler services & have always enjoyed wonderful customer service. The staff at the clinic were all very friendly & professional & I loved working with Dr. Sanchez. He is a fantastic doctor!”
